What I learned is that I have the power to control my thoughts and by always thinking positive thoughts and eliminating the negative, I could survive and thrive despite the obstacles.
In his book "As A Man Thinketh", James Allen says "All achievements, whether in the business, intellectual or spiritual world, are the result of definitely directed thought, that's why to be successful, healthy and happy, it's imperative to master one's thoughts.
That is why it is so important to guard and protect one's mind from books, media and ideas which are not what you want to become.

Your Thoughts Control Your Life
So how does one change or improve ones' mindset? Here are a few pointers:
1. You Must Believe In Yourself. "Believe in your dreams and they may come true.
Believe in yourself and they will."
2. Be aware when negative thoughts creep in. Recognize the feeling, try and determine
the cause, be aware of feelings associated with the event and then replace the negative
thought with a positive one. "Change the way you look at things and the things you
look at will change".
3. Look upon failures as a positive event rather than a negative event and always learn
something. Remember, Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he was successful!
One final thought from James Allen, We do not attract that which we want, but that which we are.
